We have now had Quadricisers® since August 2001. These were installed to facilitate neurorehabilitation not only in adults but also in the pediatric population. Since that time, we have used these extensively and note that this is a major accomplishment in the patient’s rehabilitation process. The synchronicity of active and passive full motion undoubtedly has a secondary effect on the brain. The rational is simple; hyperbaric oxygenation arouses dormant idling neutrons that are getting enough oxygen to exist but not enough to fire electrically. As these cells become active again, they have lost their myoneural pathways and thus need a sense of direction. The Quadriciser® sets this new standard of neurorehabilitation.

The type of cases treated on the Quadriciser® have been ones with severe neurologic damage. Several cases actually have been in vegetative coma for prolonged periods of time with marked degrees of spasticity. Stroke patients, traumatic brain injury and cerebral palsy patients have been treated and the results are very encouraging. The Quadriciser® offers muscle release, occasion, neural stimulation and increase in blood flow to the brain that could not be accomplished in any other way. We have seen movement of extremities and limbs in patients who have had spasticity for a number of years.

The Quadriciser® is affecting several organ systems and our primary goal is neurological rehabilitation. This equipment is stimulating the Central and Peripheral nervous systems through the excitation of proprioceptors. It also seems to better improve the cardiovascular function in extremities that lie unused due to paralysis. The lymphatic system, which functions on muscular contraction, is functioning at more optimum levels due to the motion created by the Quadriciser®.

Patients in the Neurological Rehabilitation Program, using the Quadriciser®, are gaining measurable increase in range of motion in most of the peripheral joints. Findings also show measurable increases in motor functions. Patients that have lost motor functions for up to four years to massive brain trauma are regaining these lost functions.
