I have utilized the Quadriciser® over the past eight months with patients with various disorders and received a positive response. It does fill a void that exists for people of limited function and mobility by providing a relatively independent means of exercise not offered by any other piece of equipment (to my knowledge). Whether it is someone who has recently suffered a stroke or someone battling the chronic problems of Multiple Sclerosis, spinal cord injury, or arthritis, the machine does provide a safe and effective means of exercise by assisting those unable to use conventional modalities of exercise such as the treadmill or stationary bike.
Medical conditions that may benefit from Quadriciser®: stroke, spinal cord injury, head injury, Multiple Sclerosis, various other disorders that involve neurological pathology, arthritis, low back pain (particularly in geriatric population), various orthopedic injuries that have resulted in limitations in range of motion and general deconditioning common among geriatric population.
The Quadriciser® is utilized as a method of Therapeutic Exercise (no different than any other piece of exercise equipment) and can be billed under the appropriate CPT-4 coding accompanied by proper physical therapy documentation. In most cases, its usage would be accompanied by other modes of treatment and exercise (Example: 20 minute warm-up on Quadriciser® preceding passive stretching and progressive resisted exercises).
