Ralph’s Quadriciser has been a blessing to him for many reasons. Our obvious benefit is that using the machine keeps his joints loose as well as help to improve the contractures in his hands and feet.
The Quadriciser has also improved Ralph’s overall health. Ralph’s feet and legs were purple from the blood pooling in his feet and from poor circulation. His first time on the Quadriciser caused his feet to turn pink while he was on the machine. At first, when we took Ralph off of the Quadriciser, his feet and legs would turn purple again. Now after daily use of the Quadriciser, Ralph’s feet and legs stay pink all the time – no more purple. Somehow the Quadriciser improved Ralph’s circulation so that blood no longer pools up in his legs and feet.
Another exciting effect of using the Quadriciser is on Ralph’s speech. For example, one day as Ralph was working on the Quadriciser, our niece, Ida Sue, and her mother Sue, our sister-in-law, had stopped in to see Ralph. They had driven up from Conley, Georgia. When Ida Su walked in Ralph, who doesn’t speak, said, “Ida – Ida – Ida.” Sue walked over and put her arm over Ralph’s shoulders. Ralph said, “Mom.” In other words, meaning Ida Sue’s mom.
I know that the Quadriciser helps to relieve pain as well. I have used it myself to relieve back pain. The Quadriciser also has a beneficial effect on patients with Parkinson’s disease. My older brother Boyd has been fighting the physical effects of Parkinson’s for over twenty years. After using the Quadriciser for two to three times a week, Boyd could balance himself on one foot, touch his hands together behind his back, and cut his time to dress himself from one hour to twenty minutes. This was partially from his improved flexibility, but also seemed to be caused by some neurological benefit of the Quadriciser.
I’m sure there are other benefits that we don’t realize that can be attributed to the Quadriciser. One nurse even commented to me that Ralph is the first person, in his situation, she has ever seen improve once being brought home from the hospital. His muscle tone, his good skin coloring, and his alertness may all be positive effects of regular use of the Quadriciser.
