As you know, my daughter Teal broke her back (L2) in a car accident in September 1995 and is a paraplegic. We were very fortunate to find out about you and the Quadriciser® a few months after her accident and she has been using the Quadriciser for over two years now. Teal incorporates using the Quadriciser® with her daily therapy and the benefits of this exercise machine have been monumental. She is devoted to exercising and uses the machine every day (sometimes twice) for at least 30 – 60 minutes at a time.
Teal has found that when she uses the Quadriciser® before her therapy her legs are much easier to stretch. The circular movement of the machine lessens the tone in her legs and rarely suffers muscle spasms now. Teal’s therapist even noticed how much easier her legs were to exercise when she had used the Quadriciser® before coming to therapy. Teal has gotten a small amount of return in her upper legs and is able to take some steps with a walker and RGO braces. The Quadriciser® has helped Teal strengthen her leg muscles, which are no longer severely atrophied, and she is able to stand and walk for an hour every day.
We have also found that the Quadriciser® has helped increase the blood circulation in Teal’s legs. She was home two weeks after rehab and ended up going back to the hospital for a week with a blood clot in her left leg. She was put on medication for six months, experienced swollen ankles and feet every day, and had to wear special hose to help with circulation. Once she started using the quadriciser the selling disappeared and we are confident that she does not have to worry about another blood clot. The increased blood circulation and movement also gives Teal more energy – she just feels good (both mentally and physically) after using the Quadriciser®!
Teal plans on using the Quadriciser® for as long as she is confined to a wheel chair. It is so important for anyone suffering from paralysis to keep their body in shape while awaiting a cure for SCI and the Quadriciser® gives hope to those people who can’t exercise on their own.
We are forever grateful to you for the Quadriciser®. I honestly feel that using the Quadriciser® has helped Teal deal with her injury in a very positive way and has attributed to the great attitude she has about her future.
